Zumbi's conscious lyricism and spiritual presence were the heart and soul of Zion I, and his passing left an undeniable void in the hip-hop community. The 2000 release of Mind Over Matter combined Zumbi's socially conscious rhymes with producer Amp Live’s futuristic beats, creating a sound that was both ahead of its time and deeply rooted in the traditions of hip-hop. Tracks like the Planet Asia assisted “Critical” and “Inner Light” are emblematic of this balance, where complex lyricism meets genre-bending production. The album’s themes of self-awareness, community, and resilience resonate just as strongly today, showcasing Zion I’s unique ability to fuse the personal with the political in a way that feels both intimate and revolutionary. For these reasons and more, the album was heralded with much acclaim, even earning a nomination for Album of the Year by The Source in 2000, and later being ranked among the 30 best underground hiphop albums since 2000 by HipHopDX. These accolades solidified its influence in the underground hip-hop space. In celebration of the album’s 25th anniversary, Mind Over Matter is being reissued through Live Up Records in partnership with Coalmine Reissues for Record Store Day. This special edition will not only serve as a tribute to the genius of Zion I but also as a celebration of Baba Zumbi's enduring legacy. His spirit lives on through these songs, offering fans old and new a chance to reconnect with the timeless messages he left behind. -

• We also ship internationally - prices vary depending on weight and location.
• We ship vinyls in thick, rigid carboard mailers with a crushable zone on either side, and for extra safety we bubble wrap the records.
• In stock vinyl is usally shipped next business day, please check the availability field at the top of the product page to see whether the record is currently in stock or if it is available from the supplier as well as estimated shipping times.
• If you order an in stock item together with a pre order or back order (listed as available from supplier rather than in stock) then the order will be shipped together when all items arrive. If you would like the in stock items shipped first please place two separate orders or contact us to arrange shipping items separately.
• We are strongly committed to customer satisfaction. If you experience any problems with your order contact us so we can rectify the situation. If the record arrives damaged or doesn't arrive we will cover the cost of replacing or returning the record.
• If you change your mind you have 30 days to return your record but you must cover the cost of returning it to the store.
