Description
Keith Urban's album "The Speed of Now Part 1" was released on September 18, 2020. This album marks the eleventh studio release from the Australian country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Known for his ability to blend country with pop and rock elements, Urban continues to push the boundaries of the genre with this project.
"The Speed of Now Part 1" features a total of 16 tracks, showcasing Urban's versatility and willingness to experiment with different sounds. The album opens with "Out the Cage," a high-energy track featuring Breland and Nile Rodgers. This song sets the tone for the album, highlighting Urban's knack for creating infectious, genre-blending music.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "One Too Many," a duet with pop sensation P!nk. The song is a catchy, mid-tempo number that explores the theme of regret and longing in a relationship. The chemistry between Urban and P!nk is palpable, making it one of the most memorable collaborations on the album.
Another notable track is "Superman," which features Urban's signature guitar work and a catchy chorus. The song reflects on the feeling of invincibility in a relationship and the eventual realization of vulnerability. Urban's emotive vocals and the song's upbeat production make it a highlight of the album.
"Change Your Mind" is a slower, more introspective track that showcases Urban's ability to convey deep emotion through his music. The song's lyrics explore the complexities of love and the desire to mend a broken relationship. Urban's heartfelt delivery and the song's stripped-down arrangement make it a poignant moment on the album.
Urban also pays homage to his country roots with tracks like "Tumbleweed" and "Ain't It Like a Woman." "Tumbleweed" is a rollicking, up-tempo song with a driving beat and twangy guitars, while "Ain't It Like a Woman" is a more traditional country ballad that highlights Urban's storytelling abilities.
The album also features "We Were," a song co-written by Eric Church. This nostalgic track reflects on past memories and the passage of time, with Urban's evocative vocals bringing the lyrics to life. The song's production is polished and radio-friendly, making it a potential hit.
"Polaroid" is another standout track, with its catchy melody and relatable lyrics about capturing moments in time. The song's upbeat production and Urban's charismatic performance make it a fun and memorable addition to the album.
"The Speed of Now Part 1" closes with "God Whispered Your Name," a soulful ballad that showcases Urban's vocal range and emotional depth. The song's uplifting message and powerful delivery make it a fitting end to the album.
Overall, "The Speed of Now Part 1" is a testament to Keith Urban's ability to evolve as an artist while staying true to his roots. The album's diverse range of songs and collaborations demonstrate Urban's versatility and willingness to take risks. With its blend of country, pop, and rock elements, "The Speed of Now Part 1" is a compelling and enjoyable listen from start to finish.
