Description
"All Visible Objects" is the seventeenth studio album by American electronic musician Moby, released on May 15, 2020, by Mute Records. The album continues Moby's tradition of blending electronic music with elements of ambient, downtempo, and dance, while also incorporating his signature use of vocal samples and orchestral arrangements.
The album opens with "Morningside," a track that sets the tone with its lush, atmospheric soundscapes and a steady, driving beat. The use of vocal samples adds an ethereal quality, creating a sense of both urgency and tranquility. This duality is a recurring theme throughout the album, as Moby explores the contrasts between light and dark, hope and despair.
"Rise Up in Love" follows, featuring the soulful vocals of D.H. Peligro. The track is a call to action, urging listeners to embrace love and unity in the face of adversity. The upbeat tempo and infectious melody make it one of the standout tracks on the album.
"Power Is Taken" is another highlight, featuring the powerful spoken word performance of D.H. Peligro. The track is a politically charged anthem, addressing issues of power, control, and resistance. The driving beat and aggressive synths create a sense of urgency, making it one of the more intense tracks on the album.
The album takes a more introspective turn with "Too Much Change," a hauntingly beautiful track that features the ethereal vocals of Mindy Jones. The song's melancholic melody and reflective lyrics create a sense of longing and introspection, making it one of the more emotionally resonant tracks on the album.
"My Only Love" is a cover of the Roxy Music classic, and Moby's rendition is both faithful to the original and uniquely his own. The track features the haunting vocals of Mindy Jones, and the lush orchestral arrangements add a sense of grandeur and drama.
"Refuge" is a standout track that features the powerful vocals of Apollo Jane. The song's message of hope and resilience is underscored by its uplifting melody and driving beat. The use of orchestral elements adds a sense of epic scale, making it one of the more cinematic tracks on the album.
The album closes with "All Visible Objects," a track that encapsulates the themes of the album as a whole. The lush, atmospheric soundscapes and ethereal vocals create a sense of both closure and continuation, leaving the listener with a sense of hope and possibility.
Overall, "All Visible Objects" is a powerful and emotionally resonant album that showcases Moby's ability to blend electronic music with elements of ambient, downtempo, and orchestral arrangements. The album's themes of hope, resilience, and unity are particularly relevant in today's world, making it a timely and important release. Moby's use of vocal samples and orchestral elements adds a sense of grandeur and drama, creating a rich and immersive listening experience. Whether you're a longtime fan of Moby or a newcomer to his music, "All Visible Objects" is an album that is well worth a listen.
