This album is a follow-up to their critically acclaimed "Family Dinner – Volume One," and it continues the band's tradition of collaborating with a diverse array of guest artists to create a rich tapestry of sound that transcends genre boundaries.
Snarky Puppy, led by bassist and composer Michael League, is known for its eclectic blend of jazz, funk, and world music influences. The band has a rotating cast of musicians, which allows for a dynamic and ever-evolving sound. "Family Dinner – Volume Two" exemplifies this approach, featuring a wide range of guest artists from different musical backgrounds.
The album opens with "I Asked," featuring the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Becca Stevens. The track sets the tone for the album with its intricate arrangements and emotive performance. Stevens' voice blends seamlessly with the band's lush instrumentation, creating a captivating listening experience.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Molino Molero," which features the Peruvian band Susana Baca. The song is a vibrant fusion of Afro-Peruvian rhythms and Snarky Puppy's signature jazz-funk sound. Baca's soulful vocals and the band's tight grooves make for an infectious and danceable track.
Another highlight is "Don't You Know," featuring the powerful voice of Jacob Collier. Collier, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist known for his innovative approach to music, brings his unique style to the track. His vocal harmonies and the band's intricate arrangements create a lush and textured soundscape.
"Family Dinner – Volume Two" also features the talents of David Crosby on the track "Somebody Home." Crosby's iconic voice and the band's sophisticated arrangements make for a poignant and introspective song. The collaboration between Crosby and Snarky Puppy is a testament to the band's ability to bridge generational and stylistic gaps in music.

The live recording adds an extra layer of energy and spontaneity to the performances, capturing the essence of Snarky Puppy's dynamic live shows.
In addition to the guest artists, the core members of Snarky Puppy shine throughout the album. Michael League's bass playing is both melodic and rhythmic, providing a solid foundation for the band's intricate arrangements. The horn section, led by trumpeter Mike "Maz" Maher and saxophonist Chris Bullock, adds a vibrant and dynamic element to the music. The rhythm section, featuring drummer Robert "Sput" Searight and percussionist Nate Werth, is tight and groovy, driving the music forward with precision and energy.
