Description
"Queen + Adam Lambert - Live Around the World" is a live album by the British rock band Queen and American vocalist Adam Lambert, released on October 2, 2020. This album marks a significant collaboration between the legendary rock band and the dynamic singer who has been performing with them since 2011. The album captures the essence of their live performances from various concerts around the globe, showcasing the enduring legacy of Queen's music and the fresh energy brought by Lambert.
The album features recordings from concerts held between 2014 and 2020, including performances from iconic venues such as the O2 Arena in London, Rock in Rio in Lisbon, and the Fire Fight Australia benefit concert in Sydney. The selection of tracks spans Queen's extensive catalog, offering fans a mix of their greatest hits and deeper cuts.
One of the standout aspects of "Live Around the World" is the chemistry between the band members and Adam Lambert. Lambert's vocal prowess and stage presence have been widely praised, and he brings a unique flair to Queen's classic songs while respecting the original spirit of Freddie Mercury's performances. Tracks like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Radio Ga Ga," and "We Will Rock You" are delivered with a blend of reverence and reinvention, making them feel both nostalgic and contemporary.
The album opens with "Tear It Up," a high-energy track that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Lambert's powerful vocals are immediately evident, and the band's tight instrumentation provides a solid foundation. Brian May's guitar work is as impressive as ever, and Roger Taylor's drumming drives the rhythm with precision and intensity.
One of the highlights of the album is the performance of "Love of My Life," a song that has always been a poignant moment in Queen's live shows. Brian May takes the lead on vocals, and the audience's participation adds an emotional layer to the performance. This track, along with "Who Wants to Live Forever," showcases the band's ability to convey deep emotion through their music.
The inclusion of "I Was Born to Love You," a song originally from Freddie Mercury's solo album, is a testament to the seamless integration of Lambert into the band. His rendition is both powerful and heartfelt, capturing the essence of Mercury's original while adding his own touch.
The album also features a medley of "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Radio Ga Ga," and "We Will Rock You," which serves as a climactic finale to the live experience. The medley highlights the band's versatility and ability to engage the audience, with Lambert leading the charge and the crowd responding enthusiastically.
"Live Around the World" is not just a celebration of Queen's music but also a showcase of Adam Lambert's talent and his contribution to the band's ongoing legacy. The album captures the energy and excitement of their live performances, making it a must-listen for both long-time fans and newcomers.
In terms of production, the album is well-mixed, with each instrument and vocal line clearly defined. The live recordings retain the raw energy of the concerts while ensuring a polished listening experience. The crowd noise is present but not overwhelming, adding to the sense of being at a live show without detracting from the music.
Overall, "Queen + Adam Lambert - Live Around the World" is a triumphant live album that honors the legacy of Queen while showcasing the dynamic partnership with Adam Lambert. It is a testament to the timeless appeal of Queen's music and the enduring power of live performance. Whether you're a die-hard Queen fan or discovering their music for the first time, this album offers a thrilling and emotional journey through some of rock's greatest anthems.
