Description
The Animals’ "Ark" brings an interesting fusion of past glory and new influences, offering a captivating mix of their signature raw and gritty sound, with some contemporary elements. This album came as a comeback for The Animals in the 80s, and it did not disappoint. Eric Burdon's strong and unique vocal style, once a driving force of the British Invasion, returns to lead the charge, offering fans a nostalgic experience.
The collection of songs reflects an extensive range of influences, from blues and R&B to reggae. A standout is the revamped version of their 1965 hit "It's My Life," which embraces a fresh arrangement while paying homage to the original. The album also boasts new material like "Love Is for All Time," revealing the band's ability to evolve with the times.
The Animals' blend of rock and blues in "Ark" exhibits their undeniable talent and versatility. Burdon's vocals, combined with the strong musical performances of each band member, create an album that reflects both their musical roots and their growth as artists. While it might not have achieved the same commercial success as their earlier works, "Ark" stands as a testament to The Animals' ability to adapt and innovate, making it a must-listen for fans of classic rock and blues.
