Description
Small backyard arvo with a few mates and a sea breeze suits this perfectly. Jimmy Buffett’s Barometer Soup finds the Coral Reefer Band in relaxed storytelling mode, easing between coastal folk and mid-90s roots-pop. Barefoot Children bounces with a sunny percussion shuffle and sings-along before you realise, while Remittance Man is classic Buffett character-writing, tender and unhurried. His take on Mexico cruises on light guitar and warm harmonies, a cover that feels comfortably his.
This LP pressing does right by the arrangements: the space around the acoustics opens up and the low end sits deeper, so the grooves feel more anchored without getting heavy. Art reproduction is crisp too, a nice touch if you grew up with the CD. It makes sense alongside the mellower side of the Eagles, but the humor and Gulf breeze are unmistakably Buffett.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy Jimmy Buffett records online with us. Spin it when you want the mood bright without bluster, or when you need a gentle push toward the weekend.
File it under modern-era Buffett that still values songs over schtick, and let the band do what they do best: keep the party friendly, the lyrics wry, and the sails full.
