Noah Kahan's album "Stick Season" was released on October 14, 2022, and it has quickly become a beloved collection for fans of folk-pop and introspective songwriting. This album marks a significant moment in Kahan's career, showcasing his growth as a songwriter and his ability to capture the essence of small-town life and personal introspection.

"Stick Season" is named after the time in New England between fall and winter when the leaves have fallen, but the snow has yet to arrive. This transitional period serves as a metaphor throughout the album, reflecting themes of change, nostalgia, and the passage of time. Kahan's ability to weave these themes into his music is one of the album's standout features.

The album opens with the title track, "Stick Season," which sets the tone with its vivid imagery and heartfelt lyrics. Kahan's voice, both tender and powerful, carries the listener through stories of longing and reflection. The song captures the bittersweet nature of change, a recurring theme throughout the album.

One of the standout tracks is "Northern Attitude," which has been praised for its catchy melody and relatable lyrics. The song explores the idea of embracing one's roots and the complexities of identity. Kahan's knack for storytelling shines through, making it a favorite among fans and critics alike.

Another highlight is "Homesick," a track that delves into the feeling of yearning for a place that feels like home. The song's emotional depth and Kahan's earnest delivery resonate with anyone who has ever felt out of place or nostalgic for the past.

Critically, "Stick Season" has been well-received. Major publications have noted Kahan's ability to blend folk influences with modern pop sensibilities, creating a sound that is both fresh and familiar. His lyrical prowess and the album's cohesive production have been highlighted as key strengths.

The production of "Stick Season" is worth mentioning, as it complements Kahan's songwriting beautifully. The album was produced by Gabe Simon, who has worked with artists like Dua Lipa and Maroon 5. Simon's touch brings a polished yet organic feel to the album, allowing Kahan's voice and lyrics to take center stage.

In interviews, Kahan has shared personal anecdotes about the making of the album, revealing that many of the songs were inspired by his own experiences growing up in Vermont. This personal connection adds an authentic layer to the music, making it even more relatable to listeners.

"Stick Season" has not only resonated with fans but has also garnered attention from the music industry. While it may not have received major award nominations yet, its impact is undeniable, and it has solidified Noah Kahan's place as a rising star in the folk-pop genre.

Overall, "Stick Season" is a beautifully crafted album that captures the essence of transition and introspection. Noah Kahan's ability to tell stories through his music, combined with the album's thoughtful production, makes it a standout release. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to his music, "Stick Season" is an album that invites you to reflect on your own journey and the places you call home.
