Seeker Lover Keeper, the Australian indie folk supergroup consisting of Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann, and Holly Throsby, has returned after a nine-year hiatus with their highly anticipated sophomore album, "Wild Seeds." Released on August 9, 2019, this album showcases the trio's exceptional songwriting abilities and their ability to create a harmonious blend of their individual talents.
"Wild Seeds" is a collection of twelve beautifully crafted tracks that explore themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. The album opens with the hauntingly beautiful "Superstar," a song that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Blasko, Seltmann, and Throsby's voices intertwine effortlessly, creating a mesmerizing vocal harmony that draws the listener in from the very first note.
Throughout the album, Seeker Lover Keeper showcases their versatility as songwriters and musicians. Tracks like "Let It Out" and "Wild Seeds" are filled with lush instrumentation, featuring delicate piano melodies, intricate guitar work, and subtle yet effective percussion. The trio's ability to create a rich sonic landscape is evident, as each instrument serves a purpose in enhancing the emotional depth of the songs.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "We Will Know What It Is," a poignant ballad that showcases the trio's lyrical prowess. The song explores the complexities of relationships and the uncertainty that often accompanies them. Blasko, Seltmann, and Throsby's heartfelt delivery and introspective lyrics make this track a standout moment on "Wild Seeds."
Another highlight of the album is the infectious and upbeat "Let Me Down Easy." This track perfectly captures Seeker Lover Keeper's ability to create catchy melodies while still maintaining their signature introspective and poetic style. The song's infectious chorus and energetic instrumentation make it an instant crowd-pleaser.
While "Wild Seeds" primarily focuses on the trio's vocal harmonies and introspective songwriting, there are moments where individual voices shine. "If the Night Is Dark" features Blasko's hauntingly beautiful vocals, while "One Way or Another" showcases Seltmann's delicate and ethereal voice. Throsby's introspective and emotive vocals can be heard on tracks like "You've Got a Story" and "We Will Know What It Is."
The production on "Wild Seeds" is top-notch, with each track sounding polished and well-crafted. The album strikes a perfect balance between a stripped-down, intimate sound and a more expansive, full-bodied production. The arrangements are tastefully done, allowing the trio's voices to take center stage while still providing a rich musical backdrop.
Overall, Seeker Lover Keeper's "Wild Seeds" is a triumphant return for the Australian supergroup. The album showcases their exceptional songwriting abilities, captivating vocal harmonies, and introspective lyrics.
