Released on September 24, 2021, this album captures the essence of Childers' live performances, showcasing his ability to connect with audiences through heartfelt lyrics and a genuine stage presence.

The album is a compilation of two live performances recorded at the Red Barn Radio in Kentucky, a venue that holds a special place in the hearts of local music lovers. This setting adds an intimate feel to the album, allowing listeners to experience the energy and authenticity of Childers' shows. The recordings feature a mix of his well-known tracks and some deeper cuts, giving fans a comprehensive look at his artistry.

One of the standout aspects of "Live On Red Barn Radio I & II" is the way it highlights Childers' storytelling ability. Songs like "Feathered Indians" and "Whitehouse Road" resonate deeply, as he weaves tales of love, loss, and the struggles of everyday life. The live format allows for a more organic feel, with Childers often engaging with the audience, sharing anecdotes that add context to the songs. This connection is palpable, making the listener feel as if they are part of the experience.

Critically, the album has been well-received, with many reviewers praising Childers' authenticity and the quality of the live recordings. Major publications like Rolling Stone and NPR have lauded his ability to blend traditional country sounds with modern storytelling, making him a standout figure in the genre. The album has also been nominated for various awards, further solidifying Childers' place in contemporary music.

Production-wise, the album is a labor of love. Recorded by the talented team at Red Barn Radio, the sound quality captures the warmth of a live performance without losing the rawness that fans adore. The instrumentation is rich, with Childers' guitar work shining through, complemented by the harmonies of his band. This collaborative effort creates a sound that feels both polished and authentic, a balance that is often hard to achieve in live recordings.

One of the fun facts about this album is that it features a mix of both solo performances and full band arrangements. This variety keeps the listening experience fresh and engaging, as Childers shifts from solo acoustic moments to full-band jams that get the crowd moving. It’s a testament to his versatility as an artist, showing that he can hold the stage alone or thrive in a collaborative environment.

Fans of Childers will appreciate the inclusion of some lesser-known tracks that don’t always make it to his studio albums. This gives a sense of discovery for listeners, as they encounter songs that may not have received as much attention but are equally powerful. The live setting allows these tracks to breathe and evolve, often leading to unique renditions that differ from their studio counterparts.
