Description

A mid-2010s tribute with a clear brief, Various - Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One pulls together a sharp cast to reframe Dylan’s most debated decade. Instead of chasing the era’s gloss, these versions lean into songcraft, peeling back the arrangements to let the writing breathe. The result is a genuinely listenable front-to-back set that tracks his run from Saved and Shot of Love through Oh Mercy and late-decade detours, illuminating how sturdy the melodies and lines always were.

Spread across 2LP, the presentation gives the performances room to bloom; space opens up around voices and the low end sits deeper. Sequencing is thoughtful, flowing more like an album than a mixtape, which makes it easy to file next to Dylan’s Oh Mercy or the first Bootleg Series set on your shelf and actually play it.

If you’d rather order online, you can buy Bob Dylan records online with us.

Artwork fans get a proper canvas too, with the gatefold doing justice to the concept. For Melbourne collectors who’ve written off the 80s as all drum machines and sheen, this comp is a persuasive counterargument, showing how those songs thrive when handled with care. It’s a covers album that earns repeat spins because it respects the source while giving it a fresh frame. Available to order online or in our Melbourne record store, your crate needs this one.
