Description
Sia's album "Everyday Is Christmas," released on November 17, 2017, is a festive collection that showcases the artist's unique approach to holiday music. Known for her powerful voice and emotive songwriting, Sia brings her distinctive style to the Christmas genre, offering a mix of original songs that aim to capture the spirit of the season.
The album consists of ten original tracks, all co-written by Sia and Greg Kurstin, who also produced the album. Kurstin, a frequent collaborator with Sia, is known for his work with artists like Adele and Kelly Clarkson, and his production on "Everyday Is Christmas" is both polished and vibrant, providing a modern pop twist to traditional holiday themes.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Santa's Coming for Us," which serves as the lead single. The song is upbeat and catchy, with a playful energy that makes it a potential new classic for holiday playlists. Its infectious chorus and lively production make it a highlight of the album, and it has been well-received by both fans and critics.
Another notable track is "Snowman," a more subdued and heartfelt song that showcases Sia's vocal range and emotional depth. The song has been praised for its simplicity and warmth, offering a tender moment amidst the more upbeat tracks. "Snowman" has become a fan favorite and is often highlighted as one of the album's best offerings.
"Everyday Is Christmas" received mixed to positive reviews from critics. Some praised Sia's ability to create original holiday music that feels fresh and contemporary, while others felt that the album lacked the traditional elements that many listeners associate with Christmas music. However, Sia's fans have generally embraced the album, appreciating her unique take on the holiday season.
The album did not win any major awards, but it has contributed to Sia's reputation as a versatile artist capable of crossing genres and creating music that resonates with a wide audience. "Everyday Is Christmas" also stands out for its originality, as many artists tend to release holiday albums that consist primarily of covers of classic Christmas songs. Sia's decision to write entirely new material sets this album apart and adds to its appeal.
Culturally, "Everyday Is Christmas" reflects Sia's ability to infuse her personal style into a genre that is often dominated by tradition. The album's release during the holiday season allowed it to become part of the festive soundtrack for many listeners, and its original compositions offer a fresh perspective on holiday music.
Overall, "Everyday Is Christmas" is a testament to Sia's creativity and her willingness to take risks as an artist. While it may not have achieved the same level of commercial success as some of her other projects, it remains a unique and enjoyable addition to the holiday music canon. For those looking for something different from the usual Christmas fare, Sia's album offers a refreshing alternative that captures the joy and whimsy of the season.
