Description
The opening trombone in Tuba mirum feels almost conversational here, easing you into the gravitas that follows. In Mozart’s Requiem, Karl Böhm draws a dark, unhurried glow from the Wiener Philharmoniker, and the chorus rides it with unforced power. Sorrow rises with a human ache rather than grandstanding. Pressed across two LPs, the space around choir and brass finally breathes, and the low end sits deeper so basses and timpani underpin the drama instead of crowding it. It’s a classic reading that belongs next to Klemperer and the post-war Viennese tradition on your shelf. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart records online with us. Around Melbourne, we reach for this when someone wants weight and clarity without the gloss. Highlights reveal the approach: the cleanly articulated fugue in the Kyrie and the sudden hush before Lacrimosa’s entry. Nothing is rushed, but nothing drags. Collectors will appreciate the quiet surfaces and handsome presentation, while newcomers get a benchmark Requiem that still feels alive. We make it easy to buy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart records online or pick up a copy in our Melbourne record shop.
