Description
Tim Simenon at the helm and Alan Wilder gone, Ultra’s singles have Depeche Mode leaning into grit and space. Depeche Mode’s Ultra - The 12" Singles is an 8 x 12-inch box that gathers the era’s big hitters and remixes in generous, club-ready cuts. Barrel of a Gun lurches on that crushed snare and subterranean bass. It’s No Good rides a synth line that never quite sits still. The Kruder & Dorfmeister session version of Useless drapes everything in dubby shadow that works as well for a late drive as a small party.
Pressed wide, these twelves give the mixes room to breathe; the low end sits deeper and imaging opens up around the percussion. File it near Massive Attack’s Mezzanine-era moodiness, and next to Depeche Mode’s own Violator/SOFAD run if you’re mapping the evolution on your shelf. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Depeche Mode records online with us.
For collectors who missed these at the time, this is a handy, playable way back into Ultra’s darker corner of the catalogue. Clean, weighty, and practical for DJs or just living-room volume. You’ll actually play this set.
We make it easy to buy Depeche Mode records online or pick up a copy in our Melbourne record shop.
