Description
A clipped hi-hat stutter under the first drop in Big Hammer tells you where Blake’s head is now. Playing Robots Into Heaven finds James Blake circling back to his club roots, but with the surgical sound design he’s honed since his ballad-heavy detours. Loading swings like after-hours UKG, synths folding in and out of focus. Tell Me is pure catharsis, a vocal loop pushed to the brink while the kick keeps drilling.
Pressed as a 2LP white edition, this cut gives the rhythm room. Low end sits deeper and imaging feels wider, so the negative space between hits becomes musical again. File it beside the early post-dubstep shelf, one step from Burial, but still undeniably Blake in tone and touch.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy James Blake records online with us. It’s a set that works equally for a small living room listen or a late drive, and the sequencing over four sides keeps the energy breathing. People asking for a return to CMYK-era tension will be pretty happy here, yet the songwriting sense never vanishes. Fans of his piano-led records will still catch the color in the harmonies.
Available online now or in our Melbourne shop, an easy pick for any James Blake fan.
