Description

Back in self-produced, club-first mode, James Blake’s Playing Robots Into Heaven pivots from torch songs to voltage and grit. You can feel the swerve straight away as Big Hammer snaps from ragga-sliced samples into a heavy, elastic groove, then Tell Me lifts the room with a rush of breakbeats and that clipped vocal hook. Loading is the earworm, all rubbery sub and a melody that sneaks up on you during a late tram home in Melbourne.

This pressing opens the space around the synths and the low end sits deeper, so the kick and sub interplay lands with proper weight. It makes sense next to Burial and the post-dubstep era Blake helped shape, but it’s brasher and more physical than his recent singer-songwriter stretch.

If you’d rather order online, you can buy James Blake records online with us. The title track closes the set like a dimly lit warehouse comedown, showing how he can still thread emotion through machine edges. Sequencing is tight, and the art leans into the record’s cool, modular mood without overexplaining it. I like it best loud, where the transients pop and the imaging feels wider.

Shop online or dig for it in our Preston store while stock lasts.
