Misch, known for his virtuosic guitar skills and smooth vocals, pairs seamlessly with Dayes, a drummer whose innovative rhythms and textures elevate the music to new heights.
From the opening track, "What Kinda Music," listeners are greeted with a lush soundscape that sets the tone for the entire album. The track features a hypnotic groove, with Misch's guitar weaving in and out of Dayes' intricate drumming. The interplay between the two artists is palpable, creating a dialogue that feels both spontaneous and meticulously crafted. This synergy is a hallmark of the album, as each track unfolds like a conversation between two musical minds.
One of the standout tracks, "Nightrider," features a guest appearance from the talented rapper Freddie Gibbs. Critics have praised this track for its seamless fusion of styles, highlighting how it encapsulates the essence of the album.
The album also features the enchanting track "Lift Off," which showcases Misch's vocal prowess and songwriting skills. The song is a dreamy exploration of love and longing, with lush harmonies and a captivating melody that lingers long after the song ends. The production here is particularly noteworthy, as Dayes' drumming adds a layer of complexity that elevates the track beyond a simple love song. The chemistry between the two artists shines through, making it a fan favorite.
"What Kinda Music" has received critical acclaim from various publications, with many noting the album's ability to transcend genres.
