Description
Mix Master Mike officially joins the Beastie Boys here, with Mario Caldato Jr. corralling the mayhem behind the glass. Hello Nasty is the trio at peak restless invention, flipping from electro squelch to dubby head-nod to fuzzed punk within a side. Intergalactic still zaps the room with those siren synths while the sub quietly rumbles underfoot; Body Movin’ snaps to attention when the strings bite; Three MCs and One DJ is all dead-air tension, then a grin-inducing bass lurch.
This 4LP pressing gives it room to breathe. Space opens up between the samples, and the low end sits deeper without smudging the mids. On the shelf it sits neatly next to DJ Shadow’s late-90s sample craft, only looser and more playful. Great for a small party or a messy Saturday tidy.
If you’d rather order at home, you can buy Beastie Boys records online with us.
Sequencing still flows like a mixtape, but spread across four platters means no crowding. Little ad-lib breaths actually register, a nice nod to Mario C.’s detail work. It belongs in any 90s hip-hop section in Melbourne.
Buy online now with fast shipping across Australia, or pick it up in our Preston record store.
