Description

(M)edian is a collaborative EP by Australian artists Ta-ku and Wafia, released in 2016. This six-track project showcases the seamless blend of Ta-ku's production skills and Wafia's captivating vocals, resulting in a mesmerizing and emotionally charged musical experience.

From the opening track, "Meet in the Middle," it becomes evident that (M)edian is a deeply introspective and intimate project. The song sets the tone for the EP, with its delicate piano chords and Wafia's vulnerable yet powerful vocals. The lyrics explore themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, creating a relatable and heartfelt narrative throughout the album.

One of the standout tracks on (M)edian is "Love Somebody." The song beautifully combines Ta-ku's atmospheric production with Wafia's soulful delivery. The haunting melodies and introspective lyrics create a sense of longing and vulnerability, making it a truly captivating piece. The chemistry between Ta-ku and Wafia is undeniable, as they effortlessly complement each other's talents.

Another highlight of the EP is "Treading Water." This track showcases Ta-ku's ability to create intricate and layered beats, while Wafia's vocals soar over the production. The song explores the complexities of relationships and the struggle to keep them afloat. The combination of introspective lyrics and infectious melodies makes it an instant favorite among listeners.

(M)edian also features the emotionally charged track "Love Somebody (Mr. Carmack Remix)." This remix adds a new dimension to the original song, with Mr. Carmack's signature production style infusing the track with a more experimental and electronic sound. The remix maintains the emotional depth of the original while adding a fresh and dynamic twist.

Throughout the EP, Ta-ku's production shines, creating a lush and atmospheric backdrop for Wafia's vocals. His attention to detail and ability to create intricate beats is evident in tracks like "American Girl" and "Meet in the Middle (Ekali Remix)." These songs showcase Ta-ku's versatility as a producer, seamlessly blending elements of electronic, R&B, and soul music.

Wafia's vocals are the heart and soul of (M)edian. Her voice effortlessly conveys a wide range of emotions, from vulnerability to strength, adding depth and authenticity to the lyrics. Her ability to connect with the listener on an emotional level is truly remarkable, making each song on the EP a captivating experience.

One of the few criticisms of (M)edian is its brevity. With only six tracks, listeners may find themselves craving more of Ta-ku and Wafia's collaborative magic. However, the EP's concise nature also ensures that each song is carefully crafted and leaves a lasting impact.

In conclusion, Ta-ku and Wafia's (M)edian is a stunning collaborative effort that showcases the talents of both artists. The EP's introspective lyrics, atmospheric production, and captivating vocals create a deeply emotional and immersive musical experience. From start to finish, (M)edian is a testament to the power of collaboration and the ability of music to evoke a wide range of emotions. Fans of Ta-ku and Wafia, as well as those who appreciate soulful and introspective music, will find much to love in this remarkable EP.
