Description
Two bars into Corcovado, the brushed snare flickers and Getz answers with a breathy curl. Recorded live at Café Au Go Go in 1964, The New Stan Getz Quartet Ft. Astrud Gilberto - Getz Au Go Go catches bossa cool meeting small-room swing. Gary Burton’s vibraphone threads between Astrud’s soft lead and Getz’s lyric lines, especially on The Telephone Song. It Might As Well Be Spring brings a lighter lilt than the studio takes, with the band letting the tempo breathe. This LP pressing opens up the room, giving more space around the vibes and cleaner imaging on the vocal. For Melbourne nights, it’s one of those records that turns the living room into a low-lit club. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Stan Getz records online with us. File it next to Antonio Carlos Jobim and the early-60s Verve live era because the feel is intimate yet urbane, and the repertoire sits squarely in that crossover moment. Corcovado, The Telephone Song, and Spring are the keepers here, but the whole set flows without fuss. Put it on for a Sunday tidy and the room softens without losing detail. Perfect for anyone building a record collection, buy online or in store today.
