Description
One half-bar piano stab before the brass hits in Blues for Big Scotia still makes heads snap. The Oscar Peterson Trio’s Bursting Out With The All-Star Big Band finds Peterson, Ray Brown, and Ed Thigpen threaded through Ernie Wilkins’ punchy charts, so the trio’s finesse rides a proper gale. Brass sections answer Peterson’s runs like a second voice, and Thigpen’s cymbals pop without clutter. This LP lets the low end sit deeper, so Brown’s lines anchor the band instead of just shadowing it.
Shelves with Count Basie’s early-60s stompers will want this right beside that era’s Verve big-band experiments. Around Melbourne, we point newcomers here when they want Peterson with a bit more roar but the same impeccable time. Opener’s final shout is pure grin, yet the trio never cedes the conversation.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy Oscar Peterson records online with us. Spin it at a lively Sunday cook-up, where those riffs feel like well-timed toasts between friends. Imaging snaps the sections into place so you can sit “inside” the reed and brass back-and-forth. It rewards both focused listens and room-filling volume.
Shop online or dig for it in our Preston store while stock lasts.
