Description
A soft inhale before clarinet blooms on Is Not All One? tells you the pace here. Tony Scott’s Music For Zen Meditation And Other Joys pairs his warm, unhurried reed with Hōzan Yamamoto’s shakuhachi and Shinichi Yuize’s koto, recorded in Japan for a quietly revolutionary 60s meeting. Is Not All One? is sparse and conversational, while Satori (Enlightenment) floats like a held breath. On A Quivering Leaf, Ask the Winds? the koto harmonics ping against the room and Scott answers with barely-there vibrato. This LP pressing gives the music more space and the imaging snaps into focus, so the breath, wood, and string overtones sit naturally. File it beside Paul Horn’s Inside on your shelf, but the dialogue with koto and shakuhachi makes this uniquely communal rather than solitary. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Tony Scott records online with us. We play it early in the shop here in Melbourne when we want calm without syrup. Timeless ambient-jazz cornerstone that rewards quiet rooms and close attention. Perfect for a late-night tidy or the first cup of the day.
Shop online or dig for it in our Preston store while stock lasts.
