Known for her sharp lyricism and relatable storytelling, Muller has been steadily building her career over the past few years, and this album feels like the culmination of her journey so far. With a mix of pop, R&B, and dance influences, Sorry I'm Late showcases her ability to craft catchy hooks while delivering emotionally resonant narratives.
The album opens with "I Just Came to Dance", a track that immediately sets the tone with its infectious energy and playful lyrics. Mae Muller has a knack for writing songs that feel deeply personal yet universally relatable. Her lyrics often touch on themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery, but she approaches these topics with a fresh perspective that keeps them from feeling overdone. Tracks like "MTJL" (an acronym for "More Than Just Love") and "Something Real" showcase her ability to explore the nuances of relationships, both the highs and the lows, with a level of maturity and insight that belies her years.
