"Big Mistake" combines Imbruglia's signature pop sensibility with a more aggressive, guitar-driven sound. The song's dynamic range, from its quiet verses to its powerful chorus, exemplifies the album's varied sonic landscape, showcasing the breadth of Imbruglia's musical influences and her versatility as an artist.
The production of "Left of the Middle," overseen by a team of producers including Phil Thornalley, Mark Goldenberg, and Nigel Godrich, strikes a balance between polished pop production and a rawer, more authentic sound.
