Description
First full album with Simon Raymonde on bass, Cocteau Twins’ Treasure is the moment their trio dynamic fully blooms. Ivo opens with chiming guitar and layered voices that feel both ancient and new, then Lorelei pushes the chorus into silvered lift. Closing with Donimo, the choir-like coda feels like a room appearing out of fog.
This pressing gives the music real breathing room, the space around Guthrie’s guitars opening up so Fraser’s lines hover cleanly, and the low end sits deeper. Sleeve art reproduction is crisp too, which suits the 4AD aesthetic.
File it next to Dead Can Dance from the same era and it makes perfect sense, yet Treasure stays lighter on its feet, more song than ritual. Small gathering at home, lights low, this record quietly resets the atmosphere without demanding attention. Around Melbourne, it is the dream pop album people actually play, not just admire.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy Cocteau Twins records online with us. You can hear the brief guitar surge in Ivo’s middle section that makes the return to calm feel earned. Lorelei’s drum programming has a gentle skip that nudges the song forward, never hurried. Turn it up and it opens into a weightless kind of grandeur. Still singular after all these years. Perfect for anyone building a record collection, buy online or in store today.
