Description

Fall Out Boy's compilation album "Believers Never Die (Volume 2)", released on November 15, 2019, serves as a testament to the band's enduring presence in the pop-punk and alternative rock scenes. This album is a follow-up to their 2009 greatest hits collection, "Believers Never Die – Greatest Hits", and it captures the evolution of the band's sound over the decade that followed.

The album features tracks from Fall Out Boy's post-hiatus era, beginning with their 2013 comeback album "Save Rock and Roll" and continuing through "American Beauty/American Psycho" (2015) and "M A N I A" (2018). It also includes a few new tracks, such as "Dear Future Self (Hands Up)" featuring Wyclef Jean, which adds a fresh twist to the compilation with its upbeat, genre-blending style.

Critically, "Believers Never Die (Volume 2)" has been received as a solid representation of Fall Out Boy's ability to adapt and thrive in the ever-changing music landscape. The album showcases the band's knack for crafting catchy hooks and anthemic choruses, which have become their signature. Tracks like "Centuries" and "Uma Thurman" highlight their ability to create songs that resonate with a wide audience, blending rock elements with pop sensibilities.

One of the standout tracks, "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)", marked a significant moment in Fall Out Boy's career, as it was their first single after a four-year hiatus. The song's success helped re-establish the band in the mainstream music scene, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning multi-platinum certifications.

The inclusion of "Champion" and "The Last of the Real Ones" from "M A N I A" further demonstrates the band's willingness to experiment with different sounds and production techniques. These tracks incorporate electronic elements and more polished production, reflecting the band's growth and willingness to push their creative boundaries.

While "Believers Never Die (Volume 2)" did not win any major awards, it serves as a cultural marker of Fall Out Boy's influence and adaptability. The album encapsulates a period where the band successfully navigated the challenges of a changing music industry, maintaining relevance and continuing to engage their fanbase.

The album's release was accompanied by a tour announcement, the "Hella Mega Tour", which was set to feature Green Day and Weezer alongside Fall Out Boy. This tour was highly anticipated, as it brought together three iconic bands from the pop-punk and alternative rock genres, promising a nostalgic yet fresh experience for fans.

Overall, "Believers Never Die (Volume 2)" is a celebration of Fall Out Boy's journey over the past decade. It highlights their ability to evolve while staying true to the energetic and emotive style that first brought them fame. For both long-time fans and new listeners, the album offers a comprehensive look at the band's recent work, underscoring their status as one of the defining acts of their generation.
