Description
Foals - Collected Reworks
Foals, the British rock band known for their energetic performances and eclectic sound, released "Collected Reworks" on July 3, 2020. This album is a compilation of remixes of their songs, spanning their career from their debut album "Antidotes" to their more recent works. "Collected Reworks" is a three-part series, showcasing the band's versatility and the creativity of various artists who have reimagined their tracks.
The album opens with "My Number (Hot Chip Remix)," a reworking of one of Foals' most popular songs from their 2013 album "Holy Fire." Hot Chip, known for their electronic and synth-pop sound, infuse the track with a danceable beat and vibrant synths, transforming the indie rock anthem into a club-ready hit. This remix sets the tone for the rest of the album, highlighting the potential for Foals' music to transcend genres.
Another standout track is "Mountain at My Gates (Alex Metric Remix)." Originally from the 2015 album "What Went Down," this remix by Alex Metric, a British DJ and producer, adds a pulsating electronic rhythm and layers of synths, giving the song a new, electrifying energy. The remix maintains the intensity of the original while introducing a fresh, danceable element.
"Spanish Sahara (John Dahlbäck Remix)" is another highlight. The original track, from the 2010 album "Total Life Forever," is a haunting, slow-building epic. John Dahlbäck, a Swedish DJ and producer, transforms it into a high-energy dance track without losing the emotional weight of the original. The remix retains the song's atmospheric quality while adding a driving beat that makes it suitable for the dance floor.
The album also features "In Degrees (Purple Disco Machine Remix)," a reimagining of a track from Foals' 2019 album "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1." Purple Disco Machine, a German DJ and producer, infuses the song with a funky, disco-inspired groove. The remix is a testament to the adaptability of Foals' music, as it seamlessly transitions from indie rock to a danceable, disco-infused track.
"Late Night (Solomun Remix)" is another notable inclusion. The original song, from the 2013 album "Holy Fire," is a brooding, atmospheric track. Solomun, a Bosnian-German DJ and producer, extends the song into a nearly nine-minute-long journey, adding layers of deep house beats and synths. The remix maintains the dark, moody atmosphere of the original while introducing a hypnotic, danceable element.
"Collected Reworks" also includes "The Runner (RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix)," a reworking of a track from "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2." RÜFÜS DU SOL, an Australian alternative dance group, adds their signature electronic touch to the song, creating a remix that is both uplifting and introspective. The remix highlights the emotional depth of the original while adding a new, danceable dimension.
Overall, "Collected Reworks" is a testament to the versatility and enduring appeal of Foals' music. The album showcases the band's ability to transcend genres and the creativity of the artists who have reimagined their tracks. Each remix offers a fresh perspective on the original songs, highlighting different aspects of Foals' sound and demonstrating the potential for their music to be transformed and reinterpreted in new and exciting ways.
For fans of Foals, "Collected Reworks" is a must-listen, offering a new way to experience their favorite songs. For newcomers, the album serves as an introduction to the band's diverse sound and the wide range of influences that have shaped their music. Whether you're a longtime fan or a new listener, "Collected Reworks" is an album that showcases the enduring appeal and versatility of Foals' music.
