Description
Sodium lights smear across wet asphalt. Gold & Youth’s Time To Kill / City of Quartz 7-inch runs at 45 RPM and leans into sleek, nocturnal synth-pop. Production leans clean rather than retro-kitsch, so the drama comes from arrangement, not nostalgia. Time To Kill puts a cool baritone over a patient pulse, then the chorus blooms with glassy guitar and a simple, sticky hook. The flip, City of Quartz, tightens the kick and lets the synth bass prowl while the vocal floats above with a sardonic tilt. Cut at 45, this pressing opens the space and the low end sits deeper, giving both tracks a cleaner, more cinematic drive. Guitars chime, synths glow cold, drums keep a restrained stride. Works beautifully on a late Melbourne tram ride or a quiet room with lights down.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy Gold & Youth records online with us. Shelve it beside Depeche Mode’s moodier side, but note the cooler Pacific-coast haze and a pop instinct that keeps things lean. Short and sharp, two songs that do their work and leave you wanting more. A tidy, handsome single you’ll actually spin.
