Description

"m b v" is the third studio album by Irish-English shoegaze band My Bloody Valentine, released in 2013. This album comes 22 years after their groundbreaking second album, "Loveless," and was highly anticipated by fans and critics alike. "m b v" continues the band's exploration of dreamy, ethereal soundscapes, characterized by layers of swirling guitars, hazy vocals, and hypnotic rhythms.

The album opens with "she found now," a gentle, atmospheric track that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Kevin Shields' whispery vocals float over shimmering guitars and pulsating drums, creating a sense of intimacy and introspection that draws the listener in from the start.

Tracks like "only tomorrow" and "who sees you" continue this dreamlike atmosphere, with their lush instrumentation and evocative lyrics painting vivid sonic landscapes. My Bloody Valentine's trademark use of dense layers of guitars and effects creates a wall of sound that envelops the listener, blurring the boundaries between melody and noise.

One of the album's standout tracks is "new you," a shimmering pop gem that showcases the band's ability to craft catchy hooks and memorable melodies amidst the swirling chaos of their sonic palette. The song's infectious groove and ethereal vocals make it a standout moment on the album, demonstrating My Bloody Valentine's versatility and songwriting prowess.

Another highlight is "wonder 2," a sprawling epic that builds to a cacophonous climax of swirling guitars and thunderous drums. The song's hypnotic rhythm and swirling textures create a sense of transcendence and ecstasy, encapsulating the essence of My Bloody Valentine's sonic aesthetic.

While "m b v" received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising its ambition and innovation while others found it to be a somewhat underwhelming follow-up to "Loveless," the album has since gained recognition as a worthy addition to the band's discography. Its dense, immersive soundscapes and evocative songwriting continue to captivate listeners and inspire a new generation of shoegaze and dream pop artists.

In conclusion, "m b v" is a captivating and immersive album that showcases My Bloody Valentine's unique approach to shoegaze and dream pop music. With its dense layers of guitars, hypnotic rhythms, and ethereal vocals, the album invites listeners on a journey through sonic landscapes that are at once beautiful and otherworldly. While not without its flaws, "m b v" remains a testament to the band's enduring influence and innovation in the world of alternative rock music.
