Description
The little snare pickup before the last chorus of UnAmerican snaps just a touch tighter here, and it tells you what this Coke Bottle Clear LP is about: crisp, tuneful updates on Said The Whale’s harmony-forward indie pop. Cascadia finds the Vancouver outfit leaning into buoyant hooks and clean arrangements, with Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft trading melodies that feel built for a small-room singalong rather than arena bluster. Production is polished without sanding off the human bits; guitars chime, synths glow, and the rhythm section keeps it all moving.
We’ve spun this pressing in the shop and the low end sits deeper while the mix breathes with a little more space, so those stacked vocals feel nicely placed instead of crowded. UnAmerican’s handclaps and chorus lift land with real clarity. File it next to Arkells on your shelf if you like smart, big-hearted Canadian pop-rock that still feels grounded.
