Description
A late drive suits this sprawling document of Max Bemis at his sharpest. Say Anything’s In Defense Of The Genre spreads 27 songs across 2LP, veering from barbed confessionals to sugar-rush pop with a grin and a wince. The chorus lift in Shiksa (Girlfriend) still feels like a dare, all elbows and adrenaline. Baby Girl, I’m A Blur leans into a slinky pulse and synth shimmer, while The Church Channel opens the windows to big harmonies.
Cut over two discs, the space around the arrangements finally breathes and the low end sits deeper, which this record quietly needed. File it next to Brand New’s mid-2000s emo-rock expansions, where ambition met hooks without sanding off the edges. You can buy Say Anything records online through our site if that’s easier.
If you came up on ...Is A Real Boy, this is the messy, generous sequel that rewards a full evening rather than a quick skim. Even the skits and interludes feel purposeful here, stitching the chaos into a real arc. Every revisit turns up a line you missed or a guitar aside that suddenly clicks.
Shop online or dig for it in our Preston store while stock lasts.
