Description
By the time Centerfold landed, The Darcys had pared down to Jason Couse and Wes Marskell, swapping art-rock shadows for sleek, nocturnal pop. The shift suits them: glossy hooks, cool neon keys, and drums that punch without crowding the mix. It plays like a late drive through lit-up streets, every chorus locking in with a confident, radio-ready snap.
This white vinyl pressing does the record favours. The low end sits deeper and the imaging opens up, so synths and percussion have proper space. Artwork looks crisp, too, which fits the album’s polished aesthetic.
You can file it next to Phoenix, though The Darcys run a shade darker and more cinematic, less wink and more midnight movie. Toronto roots peek through in the songwriting economy, but the palette is unabashedly pop, built for big rooms and bigger choruses. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Darcys records online with us.
Spin it when you want clean, modern pop with just enough mood to avoid the sugar crash. It’s a smart reinvention that still feels like a band playing with dynamics and arrangement, not a preset pack. For anyone who followed their earlier records, this is the glossy left turn that makes sense.
We make it easy to buy The Darcys records online or pick up a copy in our Melbourne record shop.
