Description
The first clap-stomp in Ho Hey is tighter than you remember, and it still kicks a room into a grin. Their self-titled debut is a front-porch folk record that leans on melody, hand percussion and Wesley Schultz’s husky drawl rather than big studio tricks. Stubborn Love blooms on Neyla Pekarek’s cello and a refrain that actually earns its swell.
This LP pressing does the album a favour. Acoustic guitars breathe with more space, and the low end sits a touch deeper, so those footfalls and floor toms feel human instead of thuddy. Artwork also benefits at full size, which suits a record this homespun.
It belongs next to early Mumford & Sons on your shelf, but the vibe is more intimate, less chest-beating, perfect for a Melbourne living-room singalong or a late-night tidy. Submarines still brings a sideways grin with its sea-salt tale. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Lumineers records online with us. Sequencing still flows like a set played in a small room. These songs hold up without fuss or frills. A solid, no-fuss pressing of a debut that still earns spins ten years on.
