Description

Jimmy Chamberlin back behind the kit and Flood in the producer’s chair, Machina / The Machines Of God finds The Smashing Pumpkins rebuilding their cathedral of noise. The Everlasting Gaze barrels in with serrated guitars before a sly tom roll tips you into the chorus. Stand Inside Your Love blooms into one of Billy’s last truly towering love songs, all glassy chords and bruised melody. Then Glass and the Ghost Children sprawls, a fever dream where the band’s prog instincts and shoegaze swirl finally meet. Spread across a 2LP cut, the dense late‑period mixes finally breathe; space opens up and imaging snaps into place. Kick drums thump with more intent and the low end sits deeper without smudging the vocal layers. File it beside their Mellon Collie/Adore run and, on the shelf next door, Nine Inch Nails’ The Fragile era. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Smashing Pumpkins records online with us. Art direction still feels prophetic of the Y2K hangover, but the tunes carry the weight. Favourites change with the weather; today it’s that sly tom roll and the way those choruses lift without turning saccharine. Collectors who skipped earlier single-disc pressings will appreciate the clarity here.

We make it easy to buy The Smashing Pumpkins records online or pick up a copy in our Melbourne record shop.
