Description
Catch the pick scrape that slingshots into Reptilia’s chorus; it still jolts like a live wire. Room On Fire is The Strokes’ tighter, nervier follow-up, produced again by Gordon Raphael, and it rewards repeat spins. 12:51 pitches that sly, synth-like guitar tone against a metronomic groove, while Under Control slides into a tender sway that hints at their velvet-hearted side. Opener What Ever Happened? arrives with clipped guitars and a shrug that feels sharply, stubbornly alive.
This LP pressing opens up the space between the twin guitars and gives the low end a touch more weight, keeping the bustle intact but letting every jab land. You can hear parts tuck together rather than smear, which suits these songs. Still perfect for a late tram ride across Melbourne, or any room that needs a quick jolt.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Strokes records online with us.
File this beside The Cars and the early 2000s NYC rock revival, where economy and attitude meet bright hooks. It belongs next to Is This It, but it isn’t a retread; the corners are sharper, the beats a shade tougher, and the melodies sneak up on you.
The Strokes' Room On Fire remains a small, punchy classic that keeps its cool without going cold. Available to order online or in our Melbourne record store, your crate needs this one.
