Description
Cut in humid New Orleans at Kingsway with producer Don Smith, Road Apples captures The Tragically Hip lean and wired at the start of the 90s. The opener Little Bones snaps with Johnny Fay’s stuttering snare and a sly bass push that makes the chorus bite. Three Pistols rides a clipped guitar figure into one of their tautest refrains. This 30th Anniversary Deluxe 5LP + Blu-ray set lets the low end sit deeper and opens more space around Gord Downie’s voice. You can follow the two-guitar weave with clearer imaging, and the live 1991 Roxy set and Kingsway session material add real context rather than filler. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Tragically Hip records online with us. Spin Long Time Running late on a drive across Melbourne and you’ll hear how their bar-band grind becomes widescreen. Packaging is thoughtfully expanded, with the Blu-ray audio disc rewarding a good system without fuss. File it next to Midnight Oil in the section where songcraft and conviction meet. A high-water mark from Canada’s most quietly unshakable rock band, presented with care.
