Description
That little drum fill before the Highway Girl hook still raises a grin. The Tragically Hip - The Tragically Hip catches the Kingston crew in 1987, a barroom machine about to take over Canada, all snap and sly storytelling. Small Town Bringdown and Last American Exit roll with ragged swing, and the instrumental All Canadian Surf Club closes things with surf twang and a wink. This LP pressing gives Gord Downie’s voice room to lean and lunge; low end sits deeper and cymbals decay cleanly. Spin it on a late drive across Melbourne or for a small kitchen party, and the songs feel built for the room. File it next to early R.E.M., only grittier and more barroom in its bones. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Tragically Hip records online with us. For longtime fans, it’s a solid way to hear the first wave with better presence; for new listeners, it’s a compact primer on where the poetry and the punch began. A concise, confident document that still carries the band’s signature tug between street-corner rock and crooked melody. It sits comfortably with late-80s college rock that still plays loud and honest.
