Description

Australian rock band Tired Lion burst onto the scene in 2015 with their debut EP "All We Didn't Know," and since then, they have been making waves with their energetic and raw sound. Their highly anticipated debut album, "Dumb Days," released in 2017, showcases their growth as musicians and songwriters, solidifying their place in the alternative rock genre.

"Dumb Days" is a 12-track album that captures the essence of Tired Lion's signature sound while exploring new territories. The album kicks off with the explosive track "Japan," setting the tone for what's to come. The song is driven by catchy guitar riffs and frontwoman Sophie Hopes' powerful vocals, instantly grabbing the listener's attention.

Throughout the album, Tired Lion effortlessly blends elements of grunge, punk, and indie rock, creating a dynamic and diverse sonic landscape. Tracks like "Cinderella Dracula" and "Fresh" showcase the band's ability to craft infectious hooks and anthemic choruses, while "Camp" and "Dumb Days" delve into more introspective and vulnerable themes.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Where Were You?" which features a collaboration with British singer-songwriter Tom Grennan. The song beautifully combines Grennan's soulful vocals with Hopes' raw and emotive delivery, resulting in a powerful and captivating duet. The lyrics explore themes of longing and missed connections, adding a layer of depth to the album.

Lyrically, "Dumb Days" delves into personal experiences and introspection. Hopes' songwriting is honest and relatable, touching on themes of self-doubt, heartbreak, and the complexities of relationships. The lyrics are often introspective, allowing listeners to connect with the emotions conveyed in each song.

Musically, the album is a rollercoaster of emotions. The band's tight instrumentation and Hopes' commanding vocals create a powerful and energetic sound that is impossible to ignore. The guitar work is particularly impressive, with catchy riffs and memorable hooks that will have listeners nodding along and craving more.

One of the album's strengths lies in its ability to seamlessly transition between high-energy tracks and more introspective moments. Songs like "I Don't Think You Like Me" and "Hawaii" showcase the band's softer side, allowing for moments of reflection amidst the album's heavier moments.

"Dumb Days" is a testament to Tired Lion's growth as a band. The album showcases their ability to craft catchy and memorable songs while exploring deeper emotional themes. It is a cohesive and well-produced body of work that will undoubtedly resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

In conclusion, Tired Lion's "Dumb Days" is a must-listen for fans of alternative rock. The album is a powerful and honest exploration of personal experiences, backed by infectious melodies and raw energy. Tired Lion has firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Australian music scene, and "Dumb Days" is a testament to their talent and potential.
