Description
Tracked at Trident with Tony Visconti guiding most of it while Gus Dudgeon produced the hit, David Bowie’s self‑titled 1969 set catches him pivoting from beat‑folk into stranger skies. Space Oddity still pricks the skin when the Mellotron swells under Major Tom’s call, Cygnet Committee unfurls into a long, uneasy sermon, and Letter to Hermione stays close enough to hear the pick kiss the strings. This clear and green cloudy 2LP pressing lets the arrangements breathe; the low end sits deeper, giving those floor toms and acoustic bodies extra weight without mud.
It belongs on the shelf with late‑60s folk‑psych, right beside early Tyrannosaurus Rex, as the missing link before the glam charge. Jackets and labels look tidy, and the spread across two records keeps the sides uncramped for an easy front‑to‑back play.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy David Bowie records online with us.
Spin it for a late drive or a Sunday tidy and you’ll catch new corners each time, from the choir swells in Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud to the weary smile inside God Knows I’m Good. For Melbourne collectors chasing a clean, good‑sounding copy, this edition is a sensible pick: familiar, but with just a bit more room around the edges.
Order online now or swing past our Preston shop to pick it up.
