Description
Lenny Kravitz's "Raise Vibration", released on September 7, 2018, is a testament to the artist's enduring ability to blend genres and deliver music that resonates on both a personal and universal level. This album, his eleventh studio effort, showcases Kravitz's signature style—a fusion of rock, funk, soul, and a touch of psychedelia—while also exploring themes of love, unity, and social consciousness.
From the opening track, "We Can Get It All Together", Kravitz sets the tone with a soulful and uplifting vibe. The song's message of unity and perseverance feels particularly poignant in today's world. The album's lead single, "Low", stands out with its infectious groove and introspective lyrics. Featuring a subtle vocal contribution from Michael Jackson, "Low" is a masterclass in blending funk and pop elements, creating a track that is both nostalgic and fresh.
Another highlight is "Johnny Cash", a deeply personal song inspired by a moment of solace Kravitz found in the presence of the legendary musician and his wife, June Carter Cash, during a difficult time in his life. The track's heartfelt lyrics and emotive delivery make it one of the album's most memorable moments.
"Raise Vibration" also sees Kravitz addressing social and political issues. Songs like "It's Enough!" tackle themes of inequality, environmental destruction, and systemic corruption. The track's raw energy and impassioned lyrics underscore Kravitz's commitment to using his platform to speak out on important issues.
Musically, the album is a rich tapestry of sounds. Kravitz, who played most of the instruments on the record, demonstrates his versatility and mastery of his craft. The production is lush and layered, with each track offering something unique while maintaining a cohesive overall sound.
While "Raise Vibration" stays true to Kravitz's roots, it also feels like a reflection of his growth as an artist and a person. The album's themes of love, hope, and resilience are delivered with sincerity and conviction, making it a compelling listen from start to finish.
In conclusion, "Raise Vibration" is a powerful addition to Lenny Kravitz's discography. It captures the essence of what has made him a beloved artist for decades while also pushing his music forward. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to his work, this album is well worth exploring.
