Description

Alan Price’s organ swell before the first verse of House of the Rising Sun still raises hairs. The Animals - Retrospective (2LP) corrals the core story of The Animals, from gritty R&B breakers to hard-won pop hits. House is here in full storm, but it’s the clipped guitar in Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood and the bass push in We Gotta Get Out of This Place that remind you how tough this band really was. It’s My Life lands with a surprisingly modern snap, Eric Burdon front and centre. Spread across two records, the cut breathes better and the low end sits deeper, so Chas Chandler’s lines finally have proper weight. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Animals records online with us. File it beside The Yardbirds on your British R&B shelf and it makes perfect sense, the same era but with a darker, organ-driven bite. Packaging is clean and the sequencing flows, making casual plays or a Saturday tidy equally satisfying. For anyone who wants the band’s big arcs without the crate dig, this is the straightest line through their peak. Order online now or swing past our Preston shop to pick it up.
