Description
Cut for the US market in 1965, The Animals On Tour isn’t a live set; it’s a tough studio roundup from the Mickie Most era with the original lineup in full bark. “I’m Crying” snaps into focus here, Alan Price’s organ stabs framing Burdon’s rasp with more bite than most budget pressings, while “Boom Boom” locks into a dry, unfussy stomp that shows how tight this band could be without showboating. This LP pressing opens up the space and the low end sits deeper, so Hilton Valentine’s clipped rhythm and Chas Chandler’s bass have proper weight without clouding the midrange.
Spin it when you want the British R&B moment in one clean hit. The sequencing moves quickly, keeping their club roots front and centre, and you can hear why these versions stood apart from polite beat-group covers of the time. File it next to early Rolling Stones for era, but the Animals keep it leaner and grittier, with Price’s keys steering the groove rather than guitars alone.
Prefer ordering from home? You can buy The Animals records online with us.
If you’re chasing this era on a playable copy rather than a wall piece, this edition does the job: cymbals decay cleanly, vocals sit where they should, and the jacket art reproduces well enough for the shelf. Available to buy online with quick delivery Australia wide, or pick it up in our Melbourne record store.
