Description

Bill Wyman’s dive-bombing bass at the end of 19th Nervous Breakdown still makes me grin. Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass) gathers the Stones’ first ferocious run into one tight, front-to-back thrill. You get the fuzzbox snarl of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction and the tender hush of As Tears Go By, a handy window into how quickly they sharpened the knives. Sequenced like a brisk tour of the British Invasion, it plays beautifully for a Saturday tidy or a late tram ride across Melbourne. This LP pressing does the songs a favour too; low end sits deeper, so Charlie’s touch and the rhythm section land with more purpose. Cover art looks crisp at full size, which suits that lush, leafy photo. If you’d rather order online, you can buy The Rolling Stones records online with us. Filed by vibe, it belongs right beside The Kinks in the mid-60s section, with a slightly grimier grin. Still the quickest way to trace their hop from R&B roots to chart-dominating hooks without skipping a beat. It is a crowd-pleaser that still plays like a band finding new corners to poke.

Buy online now with fast shipping across Australia, or pick it up in our Preston record store.
