Description

"Revelation," released in 2000, marks a significant chapter in the discography of Armored Saint, a band that has been a stalwart of the heavy metal scene since the early 1980s. This album is particularly notable for reuniting the classic lineup of the band, including vocalist John Bush, who had spent much of the 1990s as the frontman for Anthrax. The return of Bush to Armored Saint was a momentous occasion for fans, as his powerful and distinctive voice had been a defining feature of the band's earlier work.

The album opens with "Pay Dirt," a track that immediately sets the tone with its aggressive riffs and driving rhythm. The production on "Revelation" is crisp and clear, allowing each instrument to shine while maintaining the raw energy that Armored Saint is known for. The guitar work of Phil Sandoval and Jeff Duncan is particularly impressive, delivering both melodic solos and heavy, chugging riffs that are sure to satisfy any metal aficionado.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "After Me, The Flood," which showcases the band's ability to blend melody with intensity. The song features a memorable chorus and intricate guitar work, making it a highlight of the album. Another notable track is "Tension," which combines a catchy hook with a relentless pace, demonstrating the band's knack for crafting songs that are both accessible and hard-hitting.

"Revelation" was well-received by critics and fans alike, who praised the album for its consistency and the band's return to form. Many noted that the album captured the essence of Armored Saint's earlier work while also incorporating modern elements that kept the sound fresh and relevant. The reunion of the classic lineup was seen as a triumph, and the chemistry between the band members is evident throughout the album.

While "Revelation" did not achieve significant commercial success, it holds a special place in the hearts of Armored Saint's dedicated fanbase. The album is often cited as a testament to the band's resilience and commitment to their craft, as they managed to produce a work that stands alongside their best efforts despite the challenges of the music industry at the time.

In terms of cultural significance, "Revelation" represents a period in heavy metal where many bands from the 1980s were experiencing a resurgence, often referred to as the "New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal." Armored Saint's contribution to this movement is noteworthy, as they managed to stay true to their roots while also appealing to a new generation of metal fans.

Overall, "Revelation" is a solid entry in Armored Saint's catalog, offering a mix of powerful vocals, intricate guitar work, and a rhythm section that drives the music forward with precision and energy. It serves as a reminder of the band's enduring appeal and their ability to adapt and thrive in a changing musical landscape. For fans of traditional heavy metal, "Revelation" is an album that delivers on all fronts, reaffirming Armored Saint's status as one of the genre's most reliable and respected acts.
