Description

Death Angel, the legendary American thrash metal band, returns with their ninth studio album, "Humanicide." Released on May 31, 2019, this highly anticipated record showcases the band's signature aggressive sound while also exploring new musical territories. With a total of ten tracks, "Humanicide" delivers a relentless onslaught of thrash metal that will surely please both old-school fans and newcomers alike.

From the very first track, "Humanicide," it becomes evident that Death Angel has not lost any of their intensity over the years. The album kicks off with a blistering guitar riff, thunderous drums, and Mark Osegueda's powerful vocals. The title track sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its fast-paced tempo and thought-provoking lyrics that delve into the darker aspects of humanity.

One of the standout tracks on "Humanicide" is "I Came for Blood." This song showcases Death Angel's ability to create catchy and memorable hooks while maintaining their aggressive edge. The guitar work by Rob Cavestany and Ted Aguilar is particularly impressive, with their intricate solos and harmonies adding depth to the overall sound.

Another highlight of the album is "Aggressor." This track features a relentless assault of double bass drumming by Will Carroll, complemented by Damien Sisson's thunderous bass lines. The combination of these elements creates a powerful and driving rhythm section that perfectly supports the aggressive guitar work and Osegueda's commanding vocals.

While "Humanicide" is undeniably a thrash metal album at its core, Death Angel also incorporates elements from other genres, adding a fresh and dynamic touch to their sound. Tracks like "Alive and Screaming" and "The Pack" showcase the band's ability to seamlessly blend thrash metal with melodic hooks and catchy choruses, creating a more accessible sound without compromising their heaviness.

Lyrically, "Humanicide" explores a range of themes, including social and political issues, personal struggles, and the human condition. The band's thought-provoking lyrics provide a deeper layer to the music, encouraging listeners to reflect on the world around them. Osegueda's passionate delivery further enhances the impact of the lyrics, making them resonate with the listener long after the album has ended.

Production-wise, "Humanicide" is top-notch. The album was produced by Jason Suecof, known for his work with bands like Trivium and The Black Dahlia Murder. Suecof's expertise shines through in the album's crisp and powerful sound, allowing each instrument to be heard clearly without sacrificing the overall heaviness.

In conclusion, Death Angel's "Humanicide" is a testament to the band's longevity and musical prowess. With its relentless thrash metal assault, catchy hooks, and thought-provoking lyrics, this album is a must-listen for any fan of the genre. Death Angel proves once again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of thrash metal, and "Humanicide" solidifies their place among the genre's elite.
