Description
Cut in 1976 with Bob Ezrin tightening the arrangements, Kiss’s Destroyer is the band’s big-screen pivot from barroom stomp to studio-built drama. You hear it in the cold open of Detroit Rock City where the ignition, radio chatter, and that twin-guitar surge pull you straight onto the freeway. God of Thunder lumbers with a meaner gait, Gene chewing the scenery while the drums hit like scaffolding. Then Beth arrives, a straight-faced piano ballad that somehow works, strings and all. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Kiss records online with us. This LP pressing tightens everything; low end sits deeper and imaging snaps into place. The result puts a bit more menace under the riffs without smearing the sparkle on Paul’s vocals. It belongs next to Alice Cooper’s mid-70s run, but Kiss lean harder into comic-book bravado and sing-along choruses. For longtime fans it’s a smart upgrade, and for newcomers it’s the record where the makeup matches the music. It still plays like a start-to-finish album, not just a hits vehicle.
