This particular recording hails from a performance in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 29, 1977, during the band's "Alive II" tour.
What makes this release particularly exciting is its historical context. The late 1970s were a peak period for KISS, with the band riding high on the success of their live albums and their larger-than-life stage personas. This recording captures the classic lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss, delivering a setlist packed with fan favourites and showcasing their undeniable chemistry as a live act.
The album opens with "I Stole Your Love", a high-energy track that sets the tone for the rest of the performance. The setlist includes iconic tracks like "Love Gun", "Detroit Rock City", and "Rock and Roll All Nite", each performed with the intensity and flair that KISS fans have come to expect. One of the standout aspects of this release is the interplay between the band members. Paul Stanley's charismatic stage presence and Gene Simmons's larger-than-life persona shine through, while Ace Frehley's guitar solos and Peter Criss's drumming provide the musical backbone. The recording captures the energy of the performance, from the thunderous applause of the crowd to the band's dynamic delivery.
"Off The Soundboard: Live in Des Moines" is not just a treat for longtime fans but also a valuable document of KISS's live prowess during one of their most celebrated eras.
