Description
A quick fiddle pickup into the final chorus of Come On Eileen lands tighter here. Kevin Rowland & Dexys Midnight Runners’ Too-Rye-Ay As It Should Have Sounded rebuilds the mix so the Celtic-soul rush breathes without losing its punch. The Celtic Soul Brothers struts with extra clarity in the horns, while Kevin’s vocal sits closer to the band, almost like a rehearsal caught perfectly. On Until I Believe in My Soul, the tension blooms gradually, those strings finally sitting where they always should have. Low end sits deeper, and imaging feels cleaner, so the violin, brass and handclaps don’t trample each other in the choruses. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Dexys Midnight Runners records online with us. For shelf-mates, it belongs right next to Van Morrison’s soulful peak or The Waterboys’ early big-hearted stomp, but this is leaner, hungrier, and more street-corner. Pressing-wise, you’re getting a confident, cohesive presentation that finally matches the band’s ambition. Old-school fans will notice the sequencing tweaks and a touch more grit in Kevin’s vocal edges without the gloss that dulled earlier editions. Either way, it’s a satisfying correction that makes a classic feel properly finished.
Available online now or in our Melbourne shop, an easy pick for any Kevin Rowland & Dexys Midnight Runners fan.
