Description
That scrappy snare fill that slings you into the first chorus of Abuse Me still lands like a shove in the chest, and this 12-inch 45RPM makes it punch harder. Silverchair’s Freak Show-era single thrives at this speed; guitars feel wider, Daniel Johns’ rasp cuts cleaner in the middle eight, and the low end sits deeper without smudging Ben Gillies’ hi-hat chatter. You get the mood swing in full color, from the weary verses to that blunt, bitter hook.
Cut for space and impact, the format tightens transients so the sour-bent guitar lines bite, then leave air for the vocal to hang. It belongs alongside late-90s post-grunge touchstones, brushing shoulders with Nirvana’s pop-noise balance while leaning a touch more melodic. File it next to your Australian alt-rock staples on the Melbourne shelf you reach for when the room needs a little teenage snarl.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy Silverchair records online with us. Singles like this earn their keep by doing one thing exceptionally well, and here it’s the tension between bruised melody and blunt force rhythm. Even if Freak Show is already in the rack, this cut brings a different kind of presence and a sleeve you’ll actually pull out.
Perfect for anyone building a record collection, buy online or in store today.
