Description
It’s the tiny breath before Márta Sebestyén begins Szerelem, Szerelem that tells you how intimate this cut gets. Gabriel Yared’s Academy Award-winning score for The English Patient, performed by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, arrives here as a 2LP Saharan Sun Orange set that flatters the music’s warmth and hush. Strings feel unhurried and patient, and when Cheek to Cheek wafts through, the period glow sits naturally alongside the desert austerity of Yared’s themes.
This pressing leans into space and imaging, giving the orchestra room to bloom; the low end sits deeper without clouding the mids. You hear the air around the oboe lines, and the choir-like strings gather quietly before swelling with purpose. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Gabriel Yared records online with us.
File it next to John Barry at his late-era romantic best, but Yared’s palette is sparer and more wind-swept, less lush for lushness’ sake. The Academy’s poise keeps the drama taut, so side breaks feel like natural breaths rather than interruptions. Packaging is handsome and the colour suits the music’s sand-blown mood, but the real win is how calm and clear the presentation feels at living-room volume.
Shop online or dig for it in our Preston store while stock lasts.
